Big question:
- How does a smoke bomb work?

- We have to cook the sugar and potassium on the heat plate
- we have to put the mixture in the container
- poke a hole in the mixture and add a string
- take it outside
- light the sting up
- Take a step back and watch!
- sugar
- potassium nitrate
- heat plate
- tube or something to put it in
- lighter
- string
- powder or organic dye
- Inside &
- outside
- some of the safety hazard have to do a lot with the fact that were dealing with fire, smoke and heat.
- When we are lighting it up we will be outside.
- When we light it up we will quickly walk away before the smoke comes out. In case of fire we will have a bucket water to put it out. Clean up
- Clean up should be easy all we have to do is throw away the bomb once the fire is done burning.
- We plan to document with our phone taking photos and videos
Reflection
What happened?
Our experiment turned out really well. When we light the smoke bomb up it started to smoke up white smoke there are some pictures above.
Observations on a molecular level?
On a molecular level I think the mixture turned into smoke because the mixture got heated and it turned into a gas
Did you get desirable results?
Yes we got desirable results we wanted it to smoke up and it did.
Collaboration?
I worked with marco and meech on this project and I think we worked really well together.
What next?
I was happy with how the smoke bomb turned out. I dont think I would do this smoke bomb again because it worked out so well but if I did I would work with meech and marco agian. If we were going to move forward with it I wouldn’t make it exactly the same again but I would make a rocket out of it or make a stronger smoke bomb with more smoke.
Take aways?
Some of the takeaways from this project were
- learning how to use the scale that we used
- first time using the hot plate
- using safety gear
- Making my first bomb
