Smelly lab
Today we did an experiment where we smell different things. We smelled a wide range of things such as grape, lemon, lime, and mint. After smelling them we looked at their molecular structures. While looking at the structures I noticed things that smelled the same looked the same. We also learned that smell is the best way of memorizing things if you smell apples you might think of you might think of your grandmas famous apple pie. Or maybe you smell you ex’s cologne so you think of him.
When we smelled the orange and the lemon they smelled very similar. I noticed they were both citric and when I looked at their molecular structure they looked very much alike. They both have 2 Ch3 !! not only did the citric look the same but so did the herbs such as oregano and thyme they both had Ch3 and Oh and they smelled very similar. When I was smelling these things I thought of other things like when I smelled raspberry I thought of sourpatches and cotton candy.
